A methodology to designate radiation‐controlled areas in decommissioning nuclear power plants

Kori Unit 1, which was permanently shut down in 2017, is expected to be the first decommissioned commercial nuclear power plant (NPP) Korea. Operating NPPs designate radiation-controlled areas (RCAs) protect workers from radiological hazards and provide appropriate measures. Decommissioning RCAs (DRCAs) being should also designated by considering characteristics of workplaces exposure routes decommissioning workers, such as external internal exposure. However, criteria for DRCAs 1 are presently same those during normal operation, according public-hearing material final plan 1. This study analyzed all Korean propose NPPs.
